Ahead of COP31 in Antalya, TKYD’s ESG Working Group brought together representatives from business, law and corporate governance. Participants discussed how climate transition can be integrated into corporate strategy and the board agenda.
The ESG Working Group of the Turkish Corporate Governance Association (TKYD) held its COP31 Roundtable on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, hosted by Yapı Merkezi. The central question of the meeting was: “How can the integration of climate transition into corporate strategy and the board agenda be accelerated?”
The opening remarks were delivered by TKYD President Dr. Tamer Saka and Yapı Merkezi Chairman Başar Arıoğlu.
TKYD Secretary General Hande Gürtepe presented the COP31 agenda and the roundtable framework, drawing on findings from the Working Group’s one-on-one interviews. TKYD ESG Working Group Chair Nihal Mashaki outlined the global and Turkish climate governance agenda and set out the Group’s 2027 goal.
The roundtable discussion was then moderated by ESG Working Group Vice Chair Cenk Narter. Participants discussed how to make climate transition a permanent item on the board agenda. The meeting closed with a review of the key views and concrete outcomes.
The outcomes of the interviews and the roundtable will be compiled in a document titled “The Role of Boards from a COP31 Perspective – TKYD Opinion.” It will be shared with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. The COP31 special issue of Kurumsal Yönetim Dergisi will also be published in Turkish and English in early November.
TKYD thanks Yapı Merkezi for hosting the meeting and all participants for their contributions.
